Public Health Mission

In this perpective, one of the Institute’s missions in the public health field is to address the  incompetence and-or corruption of both public and private so-called experts in Medicine, both mainstream and alternative, around half of whom willingly mislead Patients to buy dubious and harmful products and services.  Just two quotes to mildly substantiate this claim.

“Much of the scientific literature, perhaps half, may simply be untrue. Afflicted by studies with small sample sizes, tiny effects, invalid exploratory analyses, and flagrant conflicts of interest, together with an obsession for pursuing fashionable trends of dubious importance, science has taken a turn towards darkness.”((Dr. Richard Horton, Editor-in-chief of The Lancet, the world’s most respected medical journal) (Source) (13)
Thus, Happiness Medicine Institute, in association with its sister Advanced cancer research Institute and Holistic Justice Institute, respectfully proposes to cut through the thick walls of misleading and biased studies that has configured conventional biomedical research.

“It is simply no longer possible to believe much of the clinical research that is published, or to rely on the judgment of trusted physicians or authoritative medical guidelines. (…) (Dr. Marcia Angell, a physician and longtime Editor in Chief of the New England Medical Journal (NEMJ). (Source) (14)

Mechanisms to deal with conflict of interests ?

Happiness Medicine Research also cuts through hyped and misleading biomedical research in the integrative and “Cam” (complementary and alternative medicine) sphere, if only because the majority (not all, just most) of Cam doctors are too motivated money wise pill for an ill and synthetic drugs too…not all great cam docs but….

Although alternative medicine is generally a step in the right direction insofar as the rigor of science and ethics are concerned, there are still many flawed and spinned published studies in alternative, complementary and integrative medicine. Alas, greed, ignorance and arrogance, three of the deepest forces that configure medicine’s practice, are also present in alternative and integrative medicine, albeit not as much as in conventional allopathic medicine. Even though the most conservatively and inappropriately trained judges must submit to case law and fairness, in medical malpractice, most submit to the whims of the allopathic-pharmaceutical industry.
